Havana Affair
John Frusciante is one of rare guitar players who is able to have all the Ramones energy without sound of full distortion. Atmosphere of cover is more psychodelic and closer to the actual theme of the song as it is about the cold war and this kind of psychodelia is just what this song needed. Of course, I think original is a punk-rock holy grail, but in this case student beats the teacher. rhcp 4ever

The RHCP version has a much better feel to it and fits the title better. The Ramones should have just gave this song to the Chili Peppers.

Come on guys though, they are to very differnt types of music, if its a tribute they took their song and made it into their type of music. Being a major fan of both bands, i think its totally awesome. Flea's no way all slapping, i know virtually every song by chilis on bass, i would say in total 70% of the songs are jazzy finger riffs, most of the slapping comes from their old old albums. The Red Hot Chili Peppers cover is absolutely awful, and has got nothing on the Ramones original. Pretty much all any of you have done is displayed your awful taste in music.

I think it's a great cover. And for the record, Flea is not all about slapping, he's got some melody and jazz bass goin on. This song doesn't even have slap in it.

Watch the slane castle dvd. Slappin and poppin has nothing to do with this song. You can be fan of the Ramones, but you don't know s**t about the rhcp so don't mess with 'em
