No Quarter
TOOLs reinvention of this decent at best Led Zeppelin tune is fantastic. Long, loud, and loaded with the the fantastic sounds you would expect from a band that only releases albulms every 4-6 years. TREMENDOUS!

Comments about No Quarter:
Both versions are fantastic...
I give Tool the edge because of the fantastic finish to the song, it is truly amazing.
If there is a god, it is MJK.

And computer voice? thats all run through something to make it sound that way my little friend. Its Keenan btw
Vocals - Maynard James Keenan
Bass - Justin Chancellor
Guitar - Adam Jones
Drums - good job you got that one
Page is good.
Adam Jones doesnt play for speed or some "kick ass" solo like so many other guitarists(excluding page who is good)
He plays for the "musicality" of it, not to be the best.
You obviously dont know much about the band your critisizing.

Keithingitreal, dont be such a prick because your plant's bitch, if you like them so be it, if you hate tool, so be it.
I can almost bet you anything you've only listened to maybe 1 or 2 tool songs, and the bloody 25 second sample for this song off of amazon. Both are good bands, both are good, original and cover, and like this other guy said, tool asked before they covered it, they didnt just up and use it. Its one of the only covers i've seen tool do. No Quarter, and Commando are the only ones, i believe commando was a 1 night thing though. Regardless both are good, and although i love led zepplin and Bonham im picking tool. Maynard is a fantastic singer by the way, if you've ever watched a video for more than 10 seconds or however far your zephead allows you would learn to respect him as well.

Alright first off "decent at best"? Fuck you. No Quarter is an amazing song from an amazing band. And although Tool did a mother-fucking-decent-ass-job on their cover of this song I still think that, even if they come close, they did not surpass Zeppelin's original. Thats something thats too hard for anyone to do.

If you cannot compare the two, why are you so ready to do so?

You CANNOT seriously compare tool with LED ZEPPELIN
Plant Vs Kennan = Legend Verses Anus Monkey with a computer voice
John Bonham Vs Danny Carey = Both awesome drummers but i can go past a tash.
PAGE vs anyone = Page
Zeppelin are the Balls, Tool are the ass to mouth (in drop D)

I love Zeppelin, and No Quarter is a brilliant song on its own, but Tool knocked it out of the park with this cover. (On a related note, Led Zeppelin's version of When the Levee Breaks is *infinitley* superior to APC's. So I'm not just rooting for Maynard here.)

Only these two bands could offer such a great psychedelic tune.

"Decent at best" is an insult to one of the most talented bands ever. You need to broaden your musical interest if you think that. I happen to love Zeppelin's No Quarter. However I am also a huge Tool fan but I prefer Zeppelin's. Tool's version is probably my favorite cover of all time but it does not surpass the origional. This is why I love Tool. They try to cover the best songs possible and they even asked the band permission before performing it. So Fuck "decent at best". Both bands are amazingly talented and both made an amazing version of the song.
