No Quarter
TOOLs reinvention of this decent at best Led Zeppelin tune is fantastic. Long, loud, and loaded with the the fantastic sounds you would expect from a band that only releases albulms every 4-6 years. TREMENDOUS!

Comments about No Quarter:
i also like how all the people supporting tool are mature people with meaningful and serious comments, while all the people supporting ledzep are OMG UR SO GHEY! FAGALICIOUS ZEP BEATS YOU FOREVER 2098673086734096834098609436 TIMES TOOL SHITTY SUCKS IM SMART CAUSE I TYPE LOUD. so even if the ledzep version is better(i preffer the tool, because of the more modern sound) look who is listening to it, zep would be discraced by their fans right now. also you talk about all their more selling shits w/e, during zeps time there was 1 main scene, hippie, so of course they are going to sell more and be bigger when most of the world likes their style. the world is too split up these days. and whoever wrote about tv ranks, vh1 and what not, i guess by your logic brittney spears is amazing huh?

Tim, are you insane, JOhn Bonham is the greatest drummer of all time! Its great saying tool and zepp are the two best bands, thats like saying the to best cars are the rolls royce and the fuking metro! You have no idea, by the way, about competition and how much harder it was in the 60's and 70's. Who the fuck are tool competing with?? Led zeppelin were in direct battle with musics biggest assets the beatles, not to mention the rolling stones, pink floyd, the who, hendrix, fleetwood mac!! Led zeppelin are the greatest or 2nd to the beatles at least band ever, tool are nothing, they are a stain of piss around the toilet bowl of music!

i beleive zep and tool are the best bands of their time. they're the musician's band. both absolutely original and forever unique. yes, technically jimmy page is a superior guitar player to adam, although no so in creativity (it's a draw at best to adam's advantage). danny truly blows the crap out of john (moby dick isn't really that impressive). danny's drums are the true driving force of tool. justin is at least as good a bassist as john paul. it's impossibly to compare the robert and maynard so i won't. if you're a zeppelin fan and dislike tool, you've never "heard" tool or you're a zeppelin fan for the wrong reasons and you're an idiot. i truly believe zeppelin is the greatest band ever, i must take into consideration that competition was relatively lacking in the late 60s and early 70s. to achieve an original sound in the modern era is much more challenging. hat's off to tool.

Wow, I'm amazed at how much hatred there is here.. The fact of the matter is that Zep wrote an amazing song, that sounds completely in tune with the style of their time. Tool took it, and tweaked it to sound perfect to the ears of *their* time.
Nowadays, the Zep original sounds somewhat 'flat' and esoteric, especially when you consider Plant's "blue" style of singing.
Tool, on the other hand made it almost a completely new song. Sure, Jones is no Page, and so on, but they are amazingly adept musicians _of a different style_. They play the song to the best of their abilities, and the thing that makes it truly unique is Maynard's perfectly in tune vocals - no 'blue' notes to be heard.
For me personally, as a university-trained composer, and guitarist in my own band, the choice is tough, but the Tool version just nudges out the Zep original, if only because it's one of the few "original covers" to have been recorded.
