Have I Told You Lately
I would have to say I like Van Morrison's version better, however Rod Stewart does a great job doing his version too.

Comments about Have I Told You Lately:
Bryan Tremblay is correct. Mai, Other Europe and Michael, Germany are confusing Van Morrison's song with another "Have I told you lately" written by Lulu Belle & Scotty Wiseman. Check out their lyrics & try singing them with van Morrison or Rod (good luck):
Have I told you lately that I love you
Could I tell you once again somehow
Have I told, with all my heart and soul how I adore you
Well darlin' I'm tellin' you now.
This heart would break in two if you refuse me
I'm no good without you anyhow
Dear have I told you lately that I love you
Well darlin' I'm tellin' you now.
Tony Bennet sang another "Have I told you Lately", but it is neither of the two.

Question...has anyone ever heard the story that this song was written as a prayer to Christ before?

There is another 'Have I told you lately that I love you' written by Scott Wiseman and recorded by Gene Autry. There has been a long list of artists who have recorded it since including Elvis Presley, Cliff Richard, and Vera Lynn.

Excuse me,I don't mean to correct anybody here, and I'm not calling anybody a liar, but I do know for a fact that Van Morrison wrote this song,I have no idea who this Lulu Belle and Scotty is,but unless You're thinking of a completely different "Have I told you Lately," then maybe that's the one they wrote. I'm sorry.

You seem to be right. I found somewhere that Lulu Belle and Scotty already wrote this song in 1937.
