Could It Be Magic
Under the melodrama of disco, the formerly ridiculous Barry Manilow song based on a Chopin melody becomes a masterpiece of excess, one of Donna's first shining moments on the dance floor.

Comments about Could It Be Magic:
I didn't even know (at the time) that it was a song by Barry M; It was a Donna Summer song for everybody and still is. Sorry Barry, but if this song is famous it's because Donna, with her spectacular range of voice, decided to sing it. No contest: DONNA WINS!

Donna Summer's version of this song is spectacular. Comparing them is like apples and oranges; kudos to Barry for astute career moves and all due respect but Donna Summer has the voice, the range and the power enough said!

If having 3 #1 albums, 14 top 10 singles (12 of them million sellers) comprises 15 minutes of fame, I'll have Donna Summer anyday!!

Barry can really be more popular than Donna... I am very sorry for his fans, but I have to say that Donna has a better and stronger voice. Her range is bigger. And she can sing everything, even can turn a dull song like "Could It Be Magic" into a hot number! Donna can sing "Could It Be Magic" and "Copacabana" and sound GREAT, but Barry can't sing "Love To Love You Baby" and "Hot Stuff" without sounding ridiculous.
I got add that here in Brazil Donna is still known but Barry is nobody.

Eric, You really don"t know what your talking about. Barry Manilow is an extermly talented song writter and arranger . He sings to sellout crowds everynight in Vegas. There is no other performer out there that could even come close to the wonderful talent Barry has. Whom I've loved for the past 34 years now . And still going. Linda from New York

Eric,
My man are you kidding me? First if you have nothing nice to say don't say anything and second while I will admit that Donna Summer had her 15 minutes of fame as Andy Whorhol said was due everyone but you need your ears cleaned out if you think that Barry Manilows masterpiece pales in comparison to anything Donna Summer put out in the Disco era ( long gone I might add.
Barry Manilow is still going strong to this day with #1 albums where I can't remember the last time I heard from Donna Summer.
Sorry Pal but you loose!

Although I always liked Donna Summer, she can't hold a candle to our Barry! He's the BEST. Sorry Donna, you lose!

Hi Eric,
Who are you trying to kid? Donna Summer...big in disco 1977-79 & with a decent career but Barry has been around for 33 years & is still going strong & had even a #1 CD last year. Barry has been songwriting, singing, performing, producing, arranging, & is in the Songwriters Hall of Fame...Ridiculous & Barry Manilow music are not synonomous such as you have stated. Have a Good Day!
