The wind cries Mary
It is very thrilling to see, how a piano-playing hepcat made it to transfer Jimis guitar swing on piano and brass.

All I can say is that the people who have voted must never have heard the Hendrix version because there is simply no comparison. Cullum is a cunt. And that's a scientific fact.

I have heard both versions. Callum sucks a%*e on most of the songs on the album. Jimi thanx!

Jamie Cullum manages to suck the emotion right out of this Hendrix classic. Jimi gets my vote

It takes guts to try to cover Jimi.
I like cover artists who put their own style in the song (see Joe Cocker covering the Beatles or Jeff Healey covering George Harrison) but I don't like those who completely change it.
This is a "guitar" song... rearranging it without guitar is a little like cheating, since you cannot actually compare. My vote goes to the one and only: Jimi Hendrix

Even if the cover sounds better, which I don't know, havent heard the callum version, it doesn't matter. The better artist is the one who wrote and composed the song, not the one who takes an already made song and polishes it up. That should go without saying... either way this is a great song..didnt think it was too great at first but the beautiful lyrics really got me and now i love it...thats why jimi is the best, his lyrics were so mystical and his metaphors were untouchable.

I have to say I prefer the Hendrix version by far, though the Cullum one ain't so bad as people are making out!

Both of this versions are nice listening. This tells you a little about the strength of the song not the preformer. It's said that you can't destroy a good song, I think it is true. My vote goes to Hendrix. He was first and wrote it. But I listen to both versions.

I quite like the groove on Jamie's recording but it's a shitty rendition as he strips the song of it's proper meaning and feel, turning it into a piece of jaunty fluff. Also, on principle because JC's own songs suck and Hendrix is, of course, God.
