Cover vs. Original

Personal Jesus

The Johnny Cash cover is a blues/boogie-woogie version featuring acoustic guitars and piano. Of course everyone knows the Depeche Mode style, I assume.

Not even a contest. DM is much better. But I liked Cash's version too.

Both versions are good, but the main impression is - what a great song Martin Gore wrote!

Cash gives it more desperation and intensity with leaner, meaner sound. Cash definitely

Pathétique! Cash has made some great covers in the past. But with this song...
My vote goes for the original.

Johnny Cash version is good, but DEPECHE MODE will be always better!

DM rules!

I like them both. But the sons almost sounds like something Johnny Cash would write. ( I guess that's why he covers it :)) )

I like them both.... although, I think the Marilyn Manson version is the best of the lot.

Depeche Mode is whole my life. Their music was always with me in good and bad situations.
But Johnny Cash version knocked me out!!

Respect!
