Turn the Beat Around
Gloria Estefan does a very good job doing her cover of Robinson's disco hit. In fact,Even Robinson herself liked it when she heard it.

Comments about Turn the Beat Around:
Gloria CANNOT hit the high notes all the way. Make sure you hear the long version of VSR's original hit.

VSR voice is so much more powerful and emotional. ... no contest!

Both versions were good but different. While I prefer VSR's version. It amazes me how people have to put one or the other down. It is really not ecessary to put one down to uplift another.

VSR was great, GE's version was fuller band wise yes but VSR was way past turn the beat around, try picking up some of her albumns, she was an incredible musician and vocalist. Yes Turning the beat brought her a little fame in the disco era but if people can only get past that and listen to her other music you'd love her as much as I do.

Gloria Estefan is way better in every way. This was that Vickie chick's best song and she got owned. For those of you who don't think Estefan can sing, look at her body of work, including her Spanish music. Her resume would put almost any one to shame.

If you want to give credit, give it to The Miami Sound Machine not to Ms Estefan, because folks she didn't sing the song like Ms Robinson.Vickie Sue could blow baby and to compare Gloria to her is ridiculous. The band gets all the credit here not Ms Estefan

Now if only someone remixed Vicki Sue Robinson with the Miami
Sound Machine! Gloria cannot hit the high notes all the way. Make sure you hear the long version of VSR's original hit.

Gloria Estefan made that into one of the greatest pop songs of all time. She vocally "nailed" the song perfectly, while the sound production was slick. Even today 13 years later it's still worth turning up loud on the radio.

Gloria didn't necessarily sing it any better but her band is far superior and I love the energy of the cover version as compared to the original.

I have never heard of Vicki Sue Robinson prior to tonight when I heard her name on the Radio. Nobody, Nobody sings better than Gloria
