Most people know a superior version of this song when they hear it.A lot of Mariah Carey fans have got to be the most tone deaf people on the planet.Her version is ok,but is nothing to brag about.Put her back in the seventies,would be average at best.

Mariah Carey's the best singer of all-time!! No emotion? You should watch her live version in Madison Square Garden in 1995 and you'll change your mind.
You say there's more emotion in the Nilsson's version only because he's dead and I understand: that's what I say now every time I listen to a Michael Jackson's song (We'll never hear the King of Pop anymore...). I'm sorry but I don't say that to be mean but if Mariah was dead, I know most of people would have voted for her.
But actually, Nilsson's version's not the original one: it's Badfinger's one!!

Harry Nilsson sings this song beautifully.Mariah sounds like an amateur,compared to him.Also like the original by Badfinger.

It is obvious that Mariah was inspired by Nilsson's version. She says she heard the song as a little girl. So inspiration alone should make the best cover go to Nilsson. But the quality and depth of Nilsson just makes it a slam dunk.
