If You Want Me To Stay
Both amazing versions. But the original just about has that funky edge.

haven't heard the RHCP version but i think Mercury Rev did an outstanding cover. check it out. RHCP may have gotten down the funk right but the psychedelia of the original is amplified in the Rev version.

All versions are great, but the Peppers give the song a perfect balance between the vocals and instruments. I think the original puts too much emphasis on the vocals

I love RHCP, but there is no comparison. The Sly & the Family Stone version clearly is superior and far more funky. Sill, it's a good peppers song. I like it enough that I put it on my RHCP playlist.

Im a RHCP fan... a big one... but a must vote for Sly's version... is funkier... and the chili peppers sounds too similiar an dull to me... A grate song!

I've only heard the Chilis version but it rocks (like all their music) so im just gonna be biased and say that theirs is the best. I bet the Chilis one would be slightlier more funk...

rhcp slightly takes this one. sly has the funk sound but rhcp puts in more of an melody into the tone downed song. so rhcp wins like allways
