Kitty/Mickey
It was this song that launched Toni Basil into stardom, and the video which she choreographed herself made it even more famous. I have managed to listen to a small clip of Racey's original version, which is called "Kitty", but it sounds exactly the same Toni Basil's more famous cover, and the fact that their version sings about a girl, and Toni Basil's version sings about a boy, hence the title change "Kitty-Mickey"

RACEY's version sounds much better than the one by Toni Basil.
A 27-track remastered 2-CD album set of RACEY is to be released on May 18, 2009 in the UK (7t's/Cherry Red).
It features the hit singles 'Lay Your Love On Me', 'Some Girls', 'Boy Oh Boy', 'Runaround Sue', 'Such A Night', 'Rest Of My Life', "Shame" and 'Kitty'.
I can't wait to get this great compilation of RACEY.

I have the original Racey album Smash and Grab, its a fantastic Fun album and a great Mood Lifter. I always thought Mickey was lame and such a rip off and wondered why no one ever mentioned the original Racey song Kitty. Its so good to know that there are other people with great taste for good music. A good song never dies, too bad they never got the credit they deserve as there are so many good songs on the album. Long live Racey!!!! Jules from Melbourne Australia

If you vist the website (www.musicpophits.com) you can hear Racey's original version "Kitty" in low-fi on the Racey feature page. Just follow 70-80's groups and look under groups listing or follow Groups and go to page 15.
Until the other day I thought Toni Basil's version was the original, so I was very pleased to be able to listen to the song here and will go out and buy the album "The Best of Racey" it is featured with a lot of other good "Racey" music including the hit "Some Girls"

I would so love to hear the original. It was written by Mike Chapman, awesome producer of The Sweet, Blondie, The Knack, and many others.
