Cover vs. Original

Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps

I'm a big fan of Cake's style. They seem to pour more heart into their covers than their originators.

Comments about Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps:

Y'all know these are BOTH covers, right? It was originally written as "Qizás, Quizás, Quizás" by Cuban songwriter Osvaldo Farrés in 1947.

I don't think I can vote on this one... although it is my favorite Doris tune, and is just an incredible performance, the Cake version does such a good job of paying homage to the original, and yet keeping it fresh for a new generation.

Mari Wilson does the version used on Coupling. I actually like it better than Doris Day's version slightly. But I have to say Cake's version would be perfect for those angsty moments. Great song regardless.

I have Cake's CD FAHSION NUGGET, and they are really good band(Sheep Go To Heaven, GOats Go To Hell, my favorite). I performed in a charity drag show once(seriously, no joke), and lip synced to Cake's version of I WILL SURVIVE(and the worse version, it was so funny, at least I thought it was. Never heard Doris Day's version, HOWEVER if anyone else hasn't, the theme song from BBC's COUPLING has a female singing it and it sounds like Doris Day...so Doris Day gets my vote....sorry Cake(I played the hell out of FASHION NUGGET if thats any concilation) que sera sera

While i love her vocal ability, I agree that Cake seemed to put alot heart and expression into this song. I applaud them both!
